Clara M. Breed was a resident of Lynn, Mass. Clara M. Breed's diaries record her trips to France and England, 1936-1937, and England, 1939. Pocket diary (1 vol., with souvenir bank check) kept irregularly 1 Dec. 1936-18 Oct. 1937, briefly notes sites of interest, weather, personal activities, and return home. Places visited include, among others, Nice and Paris, France; and Bexhill and London, England. Loose diary pages, 19 Aug.-6 Oct. 1939, kept in England and en route to New York, record the outbreak of war; civil defense preparations, with a few small text illustrations; war news; family visits in Bexhill and London, and her passage to New York 27 Sept.-6 Oct. 1939 on the ship Pennland.
