This receipt book was kept by Norton Brailsford of Boston, Massachusetts, who was possibly a merchant. Entries pertain to money given in payment for merchandise, rent, glass, and other items and were made from November 29, 1774 through July 8, 1775 and from April 11 through September 14, 1785. The volume also contains penciled notations of births in the Gardner family of Roxbury, Massachusetts
