This manuscript volume contains lectures dated April 20, 1854 through February 21, 1856. These lectures were delivered by "the Rev. Thomas Booth LL.D. the first incumbent of Biggin near Hartington Derbyshire who died 24th January 1860." Although the lectures are described as "missionary lectures," only a few refer at any length to missionary activity in the regions described. The lectures describe the history, culture, inhabitants, religion, climate, geography, government, and other aspects of the following areas: New Zealand, the Turkish Empire, Jerusalem, Egypt, Arabia, the Crimea and Sebastopol, and Russia. Included are sections on the life of Mohammed and prophecies concerning Ishmael
