The Ernst Wolters papers include a history of the 178th Regiment, New York, Volunteer Infantry from 1863-1865; a diary Wolters kept during his service, from March-April 1865, with Headquarters Band, 16th Army Corps; pencil drawings of Spanish Fort and Fort Blakeley (Alabama); and a photograph (tintype or ambrotype) of Wolters with a woman and another soldier, in a hinged frame.
