Daniel Melancthon Tredwell (1825-1921) was an American businessman and bibliophile from Brooklyn, N.Y., who wrote about life and history on Long Island. Collection contains two holograph manuscripts by Tredwell. One manuscript, 1914, is a history of the book trade in Brooklyn during the 19th century. The other consists of his reminiscences in diary entries from 1840 to 1881, with notes dating as late as 1892, and concerns people and events in Brooklyn, Queens and Hempstead, Long Island, New York.
