James Barbour correspondence, Manuscripts and Archives Division, The New York Public Library
James Barbour (1775-1842) was a Virginia planter and political figure. Collection consists of letters to Barbour chiefly on political and public affairs, and letters from Barbour to family members and others. Correspondents include John Quincy Adams, John S. Barbour, Henry Clay, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe, and Richard Rush.
Letters marked Cal. have been calendared in the Bulletin of the New York Public Library, volume 6, p. 22, January, 1902.
N. B. Only those letters that relate to public affairs were included in the calendar. However many of the ones omitted possess considerable personal interest.
