David Zane's book, Oh! Downtrodden (1976), contains his reflections on homosexuality, race, gender, disability, psychology, education, and other topics. This collection documents reading contests that Zane sponsored at universities, in which participants wrote about their reactions to the book. The papers include promotional material for the book and the reading contests, reactions from readers, and a photo essay on the reading contests by Candy Cameron.
