Collection consists of Quartermaster Department report forms completed by U.S. Army units, dated 1865. Reports for the 5th Pennsylvania Cavalry, in camp near Richmond, Virginia, comprise monthly returns of "clothing, camp, and garrison equipage" for April and May 1865, with a cover letter to Quartermaster General M. C. Meigs by Lieutenant James Smith, dated June 1, 1865. A report of "persons and articles hired" at Nashville for the 6th Wisconsin Battery in January 1865 is filled out in duplicate, listing teamsters Robert Morton and Albert Rittenhouse. It is accompanied by a descriptive list noting their transfer in February 1865. One of the duplicate reports bears a United States Sanitary Commission date stamp of Nov. 11, 1865
