Scope and arrangement
The collection consists mainly of letters between Georges Simenon and his publisher, William Jovanovich written between 1963 and 1983. Also included are letters to Jovanovich from Georges' wife, Denise Simenon, and his secretary, Joyce Aitken; from Italian publisher Alberto Mondadori; and from others. The collection additionally contains translations and photocopies of Simenon's letters to Jovanovich and his colleague, Helen Wolff; drafts of Jovanovich's letters; and other material relating to the publishing of Simenon's books.
