The Lloyd family Jamaica property files document the maintenance and financial and business-related issues surrounding the family's land in Montego Bay, Jamaica, including Red Hills and Brandon Hill, on which Bu Saaba, the family's vacation home, was built. The collection dates from 1931 to 1981 and contains correspondence; financial statements and ledgers; land surveys and maps; maintenance specifications; reports; and documents pertaining to the rental and sale of Bu Saaba and the land at Red Hills.
Correspondence is between Mary Maverick Lloyd; Jessie Lloyd O'Conner; Georgia Llyod Berndt and her husband, Paul Berndt; Dora Morales, the family's property agent; Herbert Southby, their lawyer; and Evelyn Skau, who dealt with the family's accounting. Letters are sometimes accompanied by financial statements or property-related documentation.
Jamaica Trips files contain reports, notes, correspondence, and travel documents relating to annual trips made by the family to Montego Bay to check up on the properties. Maintenance files contain detailed specifications of and instructions for construction and repair projects at Bu Saaba, including plumbing and carpentry issues. Property inventories and appraisals can also be found in the maintenance and repairs files.
