Scope and arrangement
The Village Neighborhood Committee records document the activities of the group from 1960-1987 as they lobbied for and supported the Jefferson Market Courthouse branch of the New York Public Library. The records consist of minutes and by-laws, correspondence, financial records, organizational paperwork, clippings, and photographs. Earlier documents pertain to lobbying for the library branch and the fundraising and work to restore the clock in the building's tower. Later the emphasis shifts to fundraising, decorating the building for Christmas, and maintenance of the grounds. The records also contain a 1962 video tour of the inside of the Jefferson Market Courthouse clock tower.
Sound and video recordings are unavailable for use at this time pending preservation transfer.
