Robert Hunter (fl. 1805-1845), of Manchester, England, lived briefly in New York City. Collection consists of letters received chiefly by Hunter and four letters, 1894-1895, of Moncure D. Conway to W. A. Hunter, concerning Conway's Writings of Thomas Paine (1894-1896). Includes many references to James Cheetham, Thomas Paine and Elihu Palmer, and contemporary comments on the American political scene prior to and after the War of 1812.
