Engrossed copy of a resolution written by the New York City Police Department memorializing William F. Havemeyer, created for presentation to his surviving family. Havemeyer served three terms as Mayor of the City of New York (1845-1846; 1848-1849 and 1873 until his death in 1874); he was also responsible for the creation of the New York City Police Department in 1845
