Charles Frederick Beals Haskell (1856-1895) was an engineer for the Great Northern Railroad. Collection consists of correspondence, account books, printed matter, and other papers. Letters, 1889-1891, include ones from Haskell to his wife while he was searching for a pass across the Rocky Mountains in Montana and the Cascades in Washington; and letters, 1889-1892, from Haskell's superior, E.H. Beckler. Also, account book kept while on trips; scrapbook of clippings concerning Haskell's death; account book related to the Montana Central Railroad Company; and loose items such as notes, letter and inventory.
