Diary of Clifton Greenwell, Chief carpenter, United States Navy. Diary (Dec. 1911-Jan.1913) records his leaving Key West after being ordered to an Asiatic station; his trip home to Washington, D.C., from there to San Francisco and then to Olongapo, Zambales, P.I., aboard the U.S.S. "Buffalo," via Honolulu, Shanghai, Amoy (Xiamen), and Hong Kong. Reported aboard the U.S.S. "Monadnock," on duty in the Philippines. Gives details of life on a U.S. Naval ship, daily duties, changes in personnel, scenery, and customs in ports visited. Includes photographs of the Philippines and Shanghai, and two printed orders printed on the Asiatic flag ship
