Dorothy Gardiner (1894-1979) was an American author who wrote mysteries and novels about Colorado and the West. Collection consists of correspondence, notes and clippings, ca. 1930s-1960, generated by Gardiner's research on Colonel J.L Sanderson, irrigation projects in Colorado during the late nineteenth century, the Sand Creek Massacre, the Fetterman Massacre, and research on commercial navigation of the upper Missouri River Valley. Also included are typescripts of notices, 1870-1935, from the Greeley Tribune of Colorado relating to the Clark family (compiled by Arthur Edward Thompson).
