Friesland is a province of the Netherlands on the North Sea. The province was part of the Spanish Empire until the late 16th century when it became one of the United Provinces of Holland. The provinces joined with the Belgian provinces in 1815 to form the kingdom of the Netherlands. In 1832 the Belgian provinces separated to form Belgium. Collection consists of resolutions for the provincial state of Friesland, 1584-1793; resolutions for authorized states, 1517-1564 (with gaps); and volumes of registers for resolutions, 1570-1780.
