Helen Peale was an artist who lived and worked in New York City in the 1930s. Peale was occasionally commissioned to make illustrated portraits of prominent families and entertainers. Peale was also the great-great-granddaughter of Colonial American painter Rembrandt Peale.
The Helen Peale illustrations contain glass plate and acetate negatives from the 1930s. The negatives are reproductions of sketches attributed to the artist Helen Peale. Sketches include portraits of the dancers Anna and Helen Duncan, daughters of Isadora Duncan. There are also portraits of other prominent New York City families and still life compositions.
