The collection includes letters to and from members of the Bournonville family covering the years 1783-1879, written in French, Danish, English and Italian. The major correspondents include: Auguste, Antoine, Jeanne and Mariane Bournonville, Ferdinand Albert, Carlo Blasis, André Isidore Carey, Édouard Carey, Gustave Carey, Jean Coralli, Charles Didelot, Vincenzo Galeotti, Lucile Grahn, Agnes Healey, Christine Healey, Ferdinand Hoppe, Christian Johansson, Augusta Nielsen, Louis-Marie Nivelon, Arthur Saint-Léon, Paul Taglioni, Salvatore Taglioni, and Bernardo Vestris. Charles Weidman (1901-1975) was a modern dancer, choreographer, and educator. He founded several dance companies and was seminal to the modern dance movement in the United States. He continued to teach and perform until he died in New York City in 1975. The collection dates from the late 1800s, but the bulk of materials are from the 1940s to 1975. The collection contains photographs of Weidman's performances, primarily in the Expression of Two Arts Theatre, and papers related to his close collaborator, artist Mikhail Santaro. less

Over 420 broadsides primarily of dance performances, but also of theater and music presentations at theaters in cities all over the world: Bologna, Boston, Copenhagen, Hanover, London, Milan, Munich, New York City, Panama City, Paris, San Francisco, Sao Paulo, and others. Theaters include London's Adelphi Theatre, Covent Garden Theatre and the Drury Lane Theatre; the Royal Theatre of Copenhagen (Kongelige Teater), and Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Among the many performers and choreographers represented are Maria Bonfanti, August Bournonville, Agnes de Mille, Fanny Elssler, Jenny Lind, Giuseppina Morlacchi, Serge Oukrainsky, Andreas Pavley, Anna Pavlova, Rita Sangalli, and Marie Taglioni.
