Roberto Aschentrupp Toledo studied Mexican cinema at Universidad Nacional Autonoma and has also written on the subject. He lives in mexico City. Approximately 77 color photos documenting traditional dances of Mexico. The photos were taken by Roberto Aschentrupp Toledo between 1988 and 1991. Depicted are Diablos, Judios, Machetes, Matlachines, Moros, Tecuantes, Tejorones, and Tlacololero dancers participating in Carnavals, Corpus Christi festivals, Dia de Muertos and Holy Week observances, fiestas, and parties in various Mexican States such as Guerrero, Michoacan, Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, and Zacatecas. The photos were exhibited at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, by the Dance Collection (now Jerome Robbins Dance Division) in 1993 and the poster is included in the collection.
