Scope and arrangement
The collection dates from the 1890s to 1938, and contains an assortment of dance photographs that were given to Josephine Schwarz after initially being held by the dancer, Theodore Bekefi. The photographs are arranged alphabetically by individual or dance company, and includes images of Ballet Caravan, Ethel McVay, Lila Zali, and Theadore Bekefi and his family. The family photographs are mostly from the 1890s, and feature unidentified members of the Bekefi family. The collection also holds a selection of unlabeled photographs credited to the photographer, George Platt Lynes.
