Rieke Maria Love was a dancer who founded the Ballet Denver Academy. The Rieke Maria Love papers (1960s-2007) contain clippings, letters, and photographs relating to Love and her work at the Ballet Denver Academy.
Rieke Maria Love (1925-2007, née Kiefer) was a dancer who founded the Ballet Denver Academy. She was born in Koblenz, Germany, where she began her training as a ballet dancer. She later studied under Mary Wigman and Harald Kreutzberg. She moved to the United States in 1947 with her husband. In 1959, she founded the Miniature Ballet School in Denver, Colorado, which later became the Ballet Denver Academy. She founded a touring ballet company, Ballet Denver, in 1971.
The Rieke Maria Love papers date from the 1960s to 2007. The collection contains newspaper clippings and publicity materials relating to Love's career and the Ballet Denver Academy. The collection includes a small number of photographs of Love, probably dating to the 1960s and 1970s. Several letters of thanks and congratulations, addressed to Love, are present.
