Richard Oastler, English factory reformer. · To William Brook, chairman of Mr. Blackburne's Comte., Huddersfield : 1 autograph letter signed : 29 Mar 1834 : (MISC 4054) : from Fixby Hall near Huddersfield : complaining about being disinvited from a dinner to honor John Blackburn, M.P., for fear that Oastler's presence would rouse unruly "low Fellows who would be there"; begins, "I have this moment returned home, and found your letter of this morn.g, informing me 'that Mr. Blackburne's Comm.te will be obliged to me if I will give up a ticket, which Mr. Pitt presented to me' ..."; with a thin mourning border.
