Count Odoardo Machirelli, Italian nobleman. He was the maternal uncle of Teresa Guiccioli, Lord Byron's last Italian mistresss. He is also apparently the same Machirelli who edited a life of Dante, published in Pesaro by Nobili in 1829. · To Ruggiero Gamba, father of Teresa Guiccioli (his brother-in-law) : 2 letters : -- 1 autograph letter signed : 11 Jul 1820 : (B'ANA 0371) : from Pesaro : in Italian; sending the Papal rescript granting Teresa Guiccioli the right to separate from her husband, and an allowance. The mentioned rescript, and several other papers relating to the Guiccioli separation, are filed under "Ruggerio Gamba." Published with translation and commentary as SC 755 in Shelley and his Circle, v. VIII, p. 1096f. -- 1 autograph letter signed : 11 Aug 1820 : (B'ANA 0379) : from Pesaro : in Italian : saying that although he cannot go to London to serve as a witness on behalf of Queen Caroline in her hearing beofre the House of Lords, he recommends as a substitute his friend Count Christoforo Ferri of Fano. Pinned to the letter is a note in French, in the hand of Teresa Guiccioli, identifying the manuscript. Published with translation and commentary as SC 807 in Shelley and his Circle, v. X, p. 664f.
