Scope and arrangement
· To Samuel Gale, antiquarian : 1 autograph letter signed : 19 Sep 1728 : (MISC 0254) : from Edmund Hall, Oxford : begins, "I am glad the Parcel came safe to your hands ..."; mentioning among other matters "the antient Velom [sic] Roll".
· To an unidentified recipient : 1 autograph letter signed : 26 Mar 1716 : (MISC 0253) : from Edmund Hall, Oxford : begins, "I am obliged to you for your transcripts of the three Original Letters in your Admirable Museum ..."; discussing his interest in manuscript collecting, saying that if his correspondent should have any more "familiar letters that are originals," they will be very acceptable; mentioning having spoken with "Mr. Baynes." On the address panel is written "Chapelle St. James," possibly in a hand other than Hearne's. Along with an unsigned late 19th or early 20th century manuscript in calligraphy, a brief biographical statement on Hearne.
