Isabella Howard (née Byron), Countess of Carlisle [other married name Musgrave], writer; she was the daughter of William Byron, 4th Baron Byron, and great aunt to Byron, the poet. · To Francis Sykes, Esq., East India Company servant and politician : 1 autograph letter signed "Isabella Carlisle" : 16 Jan 1785 : (B'ANA 0767) : 2 pages (double sheet) : from Paris : begins, "I cannot enough express the concern I am under to find the dreadfull effect yt my unhappy nephew's errors have had on my Brother's mind ..."; the nephew mentioned in the letter is "Mad Jack" Byron, father of Byron, the poet.
