He was the brother-in-law of John Bowring, the politician, diplomat and writer. · To Mary Lewin, née Peene, his wife : 1 autograph letter signed : 5 Jul 1838 : (BRNG 0064) : 3 pages (double sheet) : from Norton : begins, "Your letter as you would guess surprised me not a little though I did not notice the place of date till I read the first sentence ..."
