Sarah Matilda Brancaleone, née Hobhouse, contessa Ranghiasci-Brancaleone, English-born Italian noblewoman. She was the sister of Lord Byron's friend John Cam Hobhouse, Lord Broughton. · To Thomas Love Peacock, satirical novelist and poet : 1 autograph letter signed "Matilda Brancaleone" : 6 Sep 1849 : (P'ANA 0020) : 1 ¹/₃ pages (double sheet) : from Erlestoke Park : on mourning paper; begins, "My poor Brother is anxious that I should inform you of the dreadful calamity which has befallen him ...".
