Notes and commentary on Shelley's Esdaile notebook : (S'ANA 0395) : ca. 1886 : 78 leaves in ruled notebook. This notebook contains transcriptions of Shelley's Esdaile poems through "The Voyage" on the rectos -- the facing versos contain pencil and ink notes by Dowden relating to the text, composition of poems, influences, etc. Shelved as *Pforz (BT) Dowden 01.|||Holograph poem fragment, "Windle-Straws," Section I : (MISC 3794) : 21 Jun 1880 : signed fair copy of 2 four-line stanzas ; begins, "Under gray clouds some birds will dare to sing...".|||Copy of letter and newsclipping relating to Harriet Shelley : [copy date ca. 1870's] : (MISC 0040) : including the 12 Dec 1816 notice in the Times reporting the discovery of Harriet's body; and the 13 Dec 1816 letter from Thomas Hookham, Jr. to Shelley, reporting his estranged wife's suicide. Both copies on printed memo stationery; the Hookham letter copy with the following note at the top of the first page: "NB Please destroy this when read. E. Dowden.".|||To H.
