Mary Maria Colling (b. 1804), English poet and domestic servant. While working as a lady's maid, Colling's talent for poetry was discovered by novelist Anna Eliza Bray, who helped her publish her Fables and other Pieces in Verse in 1831. Holograph verse fables : Oct 1838 : (MISC 3752) : fair copy of three poems, "The dew drops and the stream," "The empty ear of corn," and "The hound and the flea.".
