George Burlton, captain in the Royal Navy of the warship Boyne. See The Royal Kalendar, 1813, p. 163, year 1795. On p. 152, under "King's Ships in Comission," The Boyne is listed under Rr - Adm. Sir H. B. Neale, bt., and Capt. C. Jones. To John Wilson Croker, politician and writer : 1 autograph letter signed : 1 Aug 1813 : (B'ANA 0221) : on giving Lord Byron passage in the Boyne. On July 13, Byron had written Croker, then Secretary to the Admiralty, for passage in the Boyne or any other ship-of-war bound for the Mediterranean. On learning, however, that he could not take along Augusta and his servants, he declined the proferred passage (Marchand, 399, 403 n.1).
