In 1970, Timothy Leary and Rosemary Leary traveled to Algeria, where they stayed as the guests of Eldridge Cleaver and the Black Panther Party. This collection contains a transcript of a tape-recorded statement titled "Cleaver from Algiers," made on Pacifica Radio in 1971. In the statement, Cleaver renounced any alliance between the Black Panthers and Leary, and also renounced involvement with psychedelic drug culture as a whole. Also included is a copy of a typed letter from Leary to Jann Wenner, publisher of Rolling Stone, written from Algiers on December 27, 1970. less
