The Voices from the Renaissance audio collection consists of fifty-one sound recordings, primarily of interviews that David Levering Lewis conducted with and about Harlem Renaissance figures for his 1981 book, When Harlem Was in Vogue.

Harlem in Transition: Diversity and Change was a series of free public programs exploring aspects of the changing Harlem community presented from October, 1981, through March, 1982. The collection consists of seventy-eight videos and thirteen audio recordings, representing eighteen of Harlem in Transition's original twenty-seven programs.

The Schomburg Public Programs at the Countee Cullen Library collection consists of 208 sound recordings created from 1941 to 1979. These recordings largely document programs held at the home libraries of the Schomburg Collection of Negro Literature, History and Prints, the precursor to the Schomburg Center. The collection was first housed in New York Public Library's 135th St. Branch Library, which was renamed the Countee Cullen Library in 1951.

Jean Blackwell Hutson (1914-1998) was a librarian who served as the curator of the Schomburg Collection from 1948 to 1972, then as chief of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture from 1972 to 1980. The collection contains two audio recordings, dating from 1987 to 1990, including an oral history interview with Hutson about her life and career at the Schomburg Center.
