The item is a manuscript copy of George Bernard Shaw's letter to the editor of The Times of London, dated February 2, 1909, published on February 5, 1909. Shaw responds to a letter published in The Times on January 29, 1909 by English writer H.W. Mallock. Mallock had criticized remarks on income inequality made by Keir Hardie, M.P. at a Labour Party conference in Portsmouth, England on January 27th, as reported by the press.
