Fanny Broadley was probably born in England, ca. 1820, one of four sisters. She married Henry Burrows (to whom she refers intermittently in her diaries); they had four daughters, Lucy, Constance, Mary Alice, and Dorothy. Travel diaries kept by Fanny Broadley : (MISC 4024) : on a trip from England to Holland, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy, with her mother, sisters, and two male companions, May-October 1842. Included are descriptions of their meals and lodgings, the people they encountered, lessons in French and Italian, Fanny's drawing and painting, and her thoughts of Henry Burrows, her special friend in England. The diaries are interspersed with small pen and ink and pencil drawings, and a few dried flower specimens. less
