Collection consists of 32 black and white photographs taken by Andrei Ussov of Soviet rock musicians from the period 1983-1991, including performance photos, group portraits, and headshots. The photographs document what is now known as "classic Russian rock" in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). Bands include Aquarium, Alisa, D.D.T., Nol, Televizor, Avia, Brigádmy Podriad, and Opasnie Sosedi. The Indigo Jazz Club was a venue located at 7-9 Calle Corb Marí in Parma, Mallorca. It was founded by jazz drummer Ramón Farrán in the late 1950s. By the mid-1960s, it became known as a hotspot for avant garde jazz. The collection consists of black and white photographs taken by Tom Blau, likely on a single evening in the early 1960s. The New York Public Library acquired the Jacob Druckman Collection in December 1999. The music, papers, and iconography in the Jacob Druckman Collection represent the professional and personal interests of their namesake. The collection accrued naturally through Druckman's activities as composer, conductor, teacher, and concert organizer, and it is augmented by documents related to the organizations that he served as a board member, officer, or adjudicator. There is also a small amount of material concerning the work of Druckman's wife, the dance scholar Muriel Topaz. The bulk of the collection falls between 1949 and 1996, the period from Druckman's college graduation to his death. less

Hugo Kaun, composer and choral conductor, was born in Berlin Germany on March 21, 1863. Following his father’s death in 1886, he went to the USA and settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked as a teacher, composer and choral conductor. He returned to Berlin in 1902, and by the 1920s his fame as a composer had spread throughout German-speaking Europe. In 1912 he was elected a member of the Academy of Arts and from 1922 taught at the Berlin Conservatory. His operas are Wagnerian in style, and the Wagnerian harmonic language pervades all of his larger compositions. The many choral works enjoyed great popularity. Gabriel Banat is an American violinist who played for many years with the New York Philarmonic. He was born in Transylvania, Romania in 1926, eventually moving to Hungary. At the age of eight, he was discovered by Béla Bartók, who enabled him to be accepted at the Royal Academy in Budapest (now the Franz Liszt Academy of Music), where he won honors. In 1946 he moved to New York City where he toured with Georges Enesco, his mentor. He became a naturalized citizen in 1953. He toured in the United States, Europe and Japan, and was guest soloist with the London Philharmonic, Oslo Philharmonic, among others. In 1970 he joined the New York Philharmonic. He was a professor at Smith College where he led the violin department. He also conducted various ensembles and organizations during his career. His research on Mozart led to publication in facsimile of Mozart's five violin concertos (Raven Press, 1986). His research on the Chevalier de Saint-Georges led to a biography (Pendragon Press, 2006) as well as numerous articles. He also edited the series "Masters of the Violin" (1981-1982). Some material was originally in scrapbooks. "The Piaf scrapbook" was added to the collection in 1998 and has also been cataloged separately. less

Kohs began his teaching career in 1946 with posts at the Kansas City Conservatory, the College of the Pacific and Stanford University. In 1950 he joined the faculty of the University of Southern California, teaching there for 38 years. Kohs was the author of several music theory textbooks. less
