The COVID face masks collection holds fifty-six face masks that were collected by NYPL curators during the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021. The collection showcases the social history of mask-wearing during the pandemic, and represent the various ways that artists, organizations, communities, and causes used the genre of mask as a means of creativity and protest. less

The Ephemera on Twentieth-Century Iranian, Iraqi, and Afghani Political Resistance collection consists of posters, flyers, mimeographs, and pamphlets related to various anti-war and anti-imperialist movements. Events covered include: the post-2001 United States invasion of Afghanistan; resistance to the 1979 Soviet invasion of Afghanistan; a 1968 United States student demonstration against the Shah of Iran; and United States anti-war activism against the 1991 Gulf War. less
