Thomas Swann Woodcock (1805-1863) was an English-born steel engraver who was director of the Brooklyn Apprentices Library (now incorporated in the Brooklyn Institute of Arts and Sciences) in New York. Journal narrates Woodcock's travels in 1836 along the Hudson River in New York by various means of transportation. He describes the manners and customs of the people encountered and the scenery along the way. Volume contains photographs of Woodcock and etchings of the route he followed. less
