Hays and Ries met in 1985, became domestic partners in 1989, and married in 2015. Their papers date from 1950 to 2019 and chronicle their professional careers through sound and video recordings, correspondence, score drafts, notes, notebooks, contracts, grant proposals, and press clippings.
