George N. Caylor (1885-1973), a wholesale merchant and furniture maker, was active in the Socialist Party in Philadelphia and New York in the early 1900s. He was a member of the board of directors of the Rand School and served as an arbitrator on the New York State Board of Mediation. Collection consists of typescripts of Caylor's writings about his life, his associates and the period in which he lived. Writings include his unpublished autobiography, If My Memory Serves Me Right; five sketches of American socialists; and memoirs about his brother Joseph E. Cohen and Frances Perkins. less

The New York State Branch of United World Federalists, Inc. was founded in New York City in 1947. It was one of 28 state branches of the organization that promoted world federal government, United Nations reform, legislative resolutions, and amendments to the U.S. Constitution to favor world federal government. The predecessor to the national organization was World Federalists, founded in 1941, which merged with other groups in 1943 to form Federal World Government, Inc., the latter becoming World Federalists, USA in 1945, which in turn became the United World Federalists (U.S.) in 1947. The New York State branch was inoperative after 1952. Collection consists of correspondence, minutes, financial records, and printed matter from New York State Branch of United World Federalists, World Federalists and Federal World Government, Inc. Correspondence, 1948-1949, is of the executive secretaries with state chapters and relates to organizational matters.
