John Baptist Beutler (1824-1874) was a singer, music teacher, and caricaturist. Born in Freiburg, Germany, he resided in New York from about 1851 to 1861. Drawings and caricatures in the collection mainly represent musicians and composers, but costume designs and political cartoons are also included.
