Charles Nathan Elliot (1873-?) was a researcher and collector of Walt Whitman manuscripts, printed matter, and artifacts. The Sylvan Notes manuscript journal, dated 1896 to 1897, holds Elliot's writing on natural history and Whitman as well as a photograph.
Charles Nathan Elliot (1873-?) was a researcher and collector of Walt Whitman manuscripts, printed matter, and artifacts. He sought out Whitman's associates during his research into the poet's life and also collected Whitman-related manuscripts as well as promoted scholarship about Whitman. Elliot's research culminated in the publication of Walt Whitman as Man, Poet, and Friend: Being Autograph Pages from Many Pens (1915). He continued to collect and research Whitman for the rest of his life.
