Three-quarter length self-portrait sketched lightly in pencil in a very free and expressive manner. It most likely is one of numerous preparatory drawings created by Yeats for a painting commissioned by John Quinn in 1911 which the artist worked on obsessively in New York City up until the time of his death. Signed and dated in pencil: "J. B. Yeats, 1921.".
