{"value"=>"<p>This subseries documents the promotion of Actor's Workshop productions. The publicity department, headed by Bart Benedict, dealt with advertising, public relations, and general marketing of the plays and the company's actors. These files include mock-ups of newspaper and magazine advertisements, biographies of actors, photographs, posters, scrapbooks, and scripts for radio advertisements on KCBS San Francisco.</p> <p>The bulk of the section consists of performance photographs and publicity portraits of company actors in costume. The photographs are organized chronologically by season and then alphabetically by play title. Photograph formats include glossy 8\" by 10\" images and contact sheets (often labeled \"proofs\" or \"galleys\"). While the bulk of these items are black and white, the 1957-1958 production Tiger at the Gates includes some color photographs. Occasionally play fliers, posters, programs, and letters with photographers are filed along with the photographs. Also present are three scrapbooks, notably one documenting the Actor's Workshop after Irving and Blau's departure for the Repertory Theatre of Lincoln Center.</p>"}
