Departmental activities included producing and distributing promotional films and slide shows to schools and community groups; conducting a survey of films and film-related events; publicizing newsworthy opportunities; producing and assisting production of theatrical trailers, shorts and segments (by RKO-Pathé, Columbia and the \"March of Time\" series, among others); and promoting the Fair as a location for feature films (correspondence files include a process shot list for Alfred Hitchcock's RKO film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith). The department also acted as liaison for the Official Motion Picture concession, which held rights to commercial production and use of Fair footage. Correspondents include newsreel and film companies, amateur photographers and individuals proposing film projects.
