{"value"=>"<p>Collateral Advertising was spun off from the Merchandising Department (see Central Files-Administration, A1.171 Promotion Department: Collateral Advertising Department (1939), box 55, folder 12). [hotlink] Under the direction of Beatrice Mabry and D. Alexander McQueen, the program's mission was to create free promotional opportunities for the Fair by tying its name, insignia, designs and themes to the marketing campaigns of department stores, news organs, manufacturers, service organizations, corporate exhibitors and others. The department authorized use and sometimes furnished copy and layouts for packaging, stationery, brochures, maps and other print material. Most of the examples included here were clipped from newspapers and compiled in scrapbooks by the Advertising Checking Bureau (ACB). Merchandise files include a catalogue of licensed Fair merchandise.</p>"}
