{"value"=>"<p>A centenary exhibition commemorating the British issuance of the first postage stamp had long been planned for London by the Royal Philatelic Society, but when hostilities in Europe necessitated its cancellation, the Fair Corporation intervened and offered to sponsor the event in the British Pavilion during the 1940 season. The project came under the direction of Albin Johnson, one of the Fair's foreign representatives for European participation, and was administered by philatelist and stamp page editor for the New York World Telegram Ernest A. Kehr and his assistant Helen Weitzmann. The files cover the planning, promotion and realization of the exhibition.</p>"}
