{"value"=>"<p>These informal recordings were made by Louis Armstrong. Armstrong, who had recently finished writing his memoir <span class=\"title\">Satchmo: My Life in New Orleans</span>, gave Avakian a copy of the manuscript for review, and invited him to his house in Corona, Queens, for Avakian to provide feedback and socialize over several days in the fall of 1953 (Avakian's brother Aram joined him on one of those days to take photographs of Armstrong). Armstrong, as he often did at home, recorded the meetings, and then gifted the tapes to George Avakian. In the early 1990s, Avakian re-discovered some of the tapes and lent them to the Louis Armstrong Archives (now the Louis Armstrong House Museum), which made copies for its own collection. During the processing of the Avakian-Ajemian papers, four more of these Armstrong home tapes were discovered. These new discoveries are noted below.
