{"value"=>"<p>This subseries extensively chronicles all twelve Builders Association productions from its founding in 1994 to 2014 (with a few materials dating from 1990). It contains the company's production files, and hundreds of audio and video recordings of performances and components used for productions' sound and video design. Subseries I.A. is arranged alphabetically by production name. Files within each production are also ordered alphabetically, by format or topic. Files related to multiple productions are ordered at the end of the subseries.</p> <p>In addition to Builders Association productions from 1994 to 2014, this subseries contains materials for several projects on which Weems and other company members worked. These include a residency program, short film, holiday show, and the collaborative productions <span class=\"title\">Émilie</span> (with Kaija Saariaho) and <span class=\"title\">Here Lies Love</span> (with David Byrne and Fatboy Slim). Series II holds materials for major projects by Weems outside of the Builders Association, including her work with The Wooster Group.</p> <p>The most heavily represented files in this series are marketing and press files, dramaturgical and research materials, scripts, technical files, and tour files. Weems' dramaturgical process of compiling extensive background research and revising scripts is well-documented here, as is the logistical process of mounting and, in many cases, touring a multimedia production. Other aspects of managing a theater company are also represented with publicity materials, photographs, programs, posters, correspondence, lighting cue sheets, lighting and set designs, marketing files, scripts, and contracts.</p> <p>Audio and video recordings, which are present for most productions, consist of full performances, rehearsals, workshops, and work-in-progress performances. Additionally, there are some promotional trailers for productions, interviews with company members about the productions, and general discussions about the company's work. Notable recordings include: early work-in-progress performances of <span class=\"title\">Master Builder</span>, the company's first production; a workshop performance of <span class=\"title\">Alladeen</span> at The Kitchen in New York City followed by a discussion; a seven-day workshop for <span class=\"title\">Invisible Cities</span>; and numerous performances and rehearsals for <span class=\"title\">Continuous City</span>, <span class=\"title\">Jet Lag</span>, and <span class=\"title\">Super Vision</span>.</p> <p>Also present are hundreds of audio and video components used in the creation of a given production's sound and video design; or gathered or created by the company for background research. Components and research recordings comprise commercial music (including snippets, loops, and remixes by the company); interviews conducted by the company; sound effects, either gathered from existing sources or produced by the company; commercial television and film footage; and original video footage filmed by the company. Some components for a given production are duplicated in multiple recordings, usually included with other components in a prescribed order. The company titled recordings of components; these titles, which usually describe the content to some degree, are maintained in the container list whenever possible, with further description provided when necessary. Productions with especially large numbers of components present in the collection are <span class=\"title\">Alladeen</span>, <span class=\"title\">Continuous City</span>, <span class=\"title\">Imperial Motel (Faust)</span> and <span class=\"title\">Jump Cut (Faust)</span> (which are grouped together in the container list), <span class=\"title\">Jet Lag</span>, <span class=\"title\">Master Builder</span>, <span class=\"title\">Super Vision</span>, and <span class=\"title\">Xtravaganza</span>.</p> <p>In general, audio and video recordings for each production are arranged chronologically into performances and rehearsals, and alphabetically by title into components (and/or research). Some productions also contain groupings of recordings for workshops and publicity, the latter of which features trailers and media coverage.</p>"}
