The company conducts extensive, prolonged research for each production; members often travel nationally or internationally, produce original film footage and audio, and gather material from existing sources to be used in productions.</p> <p>Alongside Weems, other notable or longstanding members of the company include Jeff Webster (performer), David Pence (performer), Heaven Phillips (performer), Moe Angelos (performer and writer), James Gibbs (dramaturg and animator), Dan Dobson (sound designer), Peter Norrman (video designer), Christopher Kondek (video designer), Jennifer Tipton (lighting designer), and John Cleater (set designer). The company has collaborated with hundreds of other individuals across numerous creative disciplines for their productions.</p> <p>Since its founding, the Builders Association has produced or co-produced more than a dozen multi-media theater projects, including <span class=\"title\">Master Builder</span> (1994), <span class=\"title\">The White Album</span> (1995), <span class=\"title\">Imperial Motel (Faust)</span> (1996), <span class=\"title\">Jump Cut (Faust)</span> (1997), <span class=\"title\">Jet Lag</span> (1998), <span class=\"title\">Xtravaganza</span> (2000), <span class=\"title\">Alladeen</span> (2003), <span class=\"title\">Avanti: A Postindustrial Ghost Story</span> (2003), <span class=\"title\">Super Vision</span> (2005), <span class=\"title\">Continuous City</span> (2008), <span class=\"title\">House/Divided</span> (2012), and <span class=\"title\">Sontag: Reborn</span> (2014). The company has performed their works at major venues and festivals around the world, and received Obie awards for <span class=\"title\">Jet Lag</span> and <span class=\"title\">Alladeen</span>.</p> <p>Outside of her work with the Builders Association, Marianne Weems has worked in various creative roles with The Wooster Group (where she was the dramaturg from 1988 to 1994), The V-Girls, David Byrne, Taryn Simon, Susan Sontag, and Ron Vawter. She serves on the board of directors of the arts foundation, Art Matters. From 2008 to 2014, she was the head of Graduate Directing at Carnegie Mellon University and co-founded its Integrative Design, Arts, and Technology program.
